Sand Dollar is well-established and has relationships with many businesses on the island. Most of our guests reserve a vehicle and their scuba diving packages through us. If there is something you definitely want to do, we suggest making a reservation in advance. If you need any advice or local tips, we are here to help!

Vehicle
You’ll need to rent a vehicle to see the best of Bonaire! Driving is on the right side of the road, with easy navigation and friendly drivers. You’ll want a truck if you’re scuba diving or visiting Washington Slagbaai Park. Manual transmission is the standard option, with limited availability of automatic vehicles. There can be a shortage of vehicles on the island, depending on the season, so we recommend reserving in plenty of time before your arrival.
To provide you with options, we work with two different vehicle rental companies.
AB Car Rental provides the most comprehensive, all-inclusive full cover insurance on island. They’ll greet you at the airport and take you to their depot two minutes away. Due to the full coverage, the check in procedure is very fast. There is no paperwork, credit card authorizations or vehicle checks. You are given the keys and away you go!
A weekly manual transmission truck rental price ranges from $440 - $500, depending on the season. This includes the insurance and taxes. We send you a quote, and you pay AB Car Rental directly.
Avis is conveniently located opposite the airport. Their price includes taxes but not insurance. This is a good option for those that are purchasing insurance through a different provider. Their insurances vary from $13 - $26 per day and are not valid in Washington Slagbaai Park. They are for collision damage only and do not cover keys, rims, road service, or extra drivers.
A weekly manual transmission truck rental price ranges from $250 - $350, depending on the season. This includes the taxes but not the insurance. We’ll include the amount on your Sand Dollar invoice as we collect payment.
Diving
Dive Friends is located adjacent to Sand Dollar. They manage our dive dock, and provide our guests with unlimited tanks, a gear storage room, boat trips, courses and friendly advice.
