The U.S. dollar is the official currency on Bonaire. There is a bank with a 24-hour ATM next to Sand Dollar, as well as a number of other banks with ATMs conveniently located on the island.

Warm and sunny! The average year-round temperature is about 83F / 29C. The climate is usually very dry. The rainy season lasts for three months and usually runs from early October to late December. Although it rains, it is usually not all day, every day. Bonaire is outside the hurricane belt and is a safe place to visit during the summer hurricane season months.

Yes! Bonaire's fresh water comes from the salty ocean after a desalination process. It is one of the purest and safest sources of water in the world to drink, so there is no reason to buy bottled water. We encourage all guests to bring their own reusable water bottles.

How do I travel from the airport to Sand Dollar?
How do I travel from the airport to Sand Dollar?
The airport is about a 15 to 20 minute drive, via Kralendijk. Click here for directions. Cabs are available at the airport and generally cost $20 per ride.
Is there a beach?

Yes, we have a small, exclusive sandy beach. The rest of the property is above sea level and there are several areas along the seawall with sun terraces with loungers for comfortable sunbathing or watching the sunset.

No. However, Eddy's Restaurant is accessible via a private walkway from the parking lot side of the property. They offer a large pool with sun beds that Sand Dollar guests can use for free.

No, but Caribbean Laundry is only 5 minutes away. You can self-serve (same day) or deliver (two days) or have us deliver (three days). Prices are very reasonable with a bag of tropical clothes costing about $30.

Our Front Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be happy to help you with any questions you may have. Upon arrival you will be given an emergency number to call if necessary.

Yes. For your peace of mind, Sand Dollar has uniformed, private security at night. The property is gated and you will be given a gate key fob for easy access during your stay.

The nearest supermarket is the Zung Kong supermarket. When you leave the building, turn left and after 10 minutes of walking you will see it on your right.

Yes, all Sand Dollar apartments are oceanfront and offer ocean views!
Can I request a specific apartment, building or floor?
Can I request a specific apartment, building or floor?
Yes, you can! We will make a special note on your reservation of the request and inform you of availability at the time of booking. While we make every effort to accommodate these requests, if there is a maintenance issue, you will be notified that you must be moved. There is a $10 per night charge for a specific apartment request that is waived for any direct booking.

Yes! Although built to accommodate the flow of the naturally cooling trade winds, all apartments are fully air-conditioned, both in the bedrooms and living area.
What appliances are present in the kitchen?

Kitchens offer a large refrigerator, stove, oven and dishwasher. Small appliances include a microwave, a blender, a toaster and a standard coffee maker. Each apartment has a full set of plates, cutlery, cooking pots, pans, cutlery and more!

Yes! During a one-week vacation, mid-week cleaning is free; mid-week and end-of-week for longer stays. You are requested to leave the apartment during the service. Additional services can be provided upon request. Towels can also be exchanged at the Front Office if needed.

To minimize the use of disposable plastic, we do not provide small toiletries. We do offer hand soap, but please bring your own shampoo and other personal items.

The apartments are mainly wired for American standard plugs. Many of the apartments also have 220 (European) available in the kitchen or a power bar with USB ports. Adapters are also available at the Front Office.

Check-in time: 4:00 pm. If an apartment is ready, we are happy to allow an earlier check-in, but this cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Each apartment has its own Wi-Fi box with its own password. The Internet provider is Flamingo TV and the bandwidth is 20 Down / 4 Up (Mbps). The internet is very reliable and fast.

Yes! Beach towels are kept at the front desk and guests can exchange them for new ones at any time!
