If there is something you definitely want to do, we recommend booking in advance. If you need any advice or local tips, we are here for you!

Vehicle

Vehicle

If you want to see the best of Bonaire, it's smart to rent a vehicle! There is driving on the right side of the road, with easy navigation and friendly drivers. If you will be diving or visiting the Washington Slagbaai Park, a truck is recommended. Manual transmission is the standard option, with limited availability of automatic vehicles. There may be a shortage of vehicles on the island depending on the season, so we recommend making reservations well in advance of your arrival.

To give you options, we work with two different car rental companies.

AB Car Rental

AB Car Rental offers the most comprehensive, all-inclusive insurance with full coverage on the island. They will pick you up from the airport and take you to their depot two minutes away. Because of the full coverage, the check-in process is very quick. There is no paperwork, credit card authorizations or vehicle checks. You get the keys and you are ready to explore the island!

A weekly rental price for a manual truck ranges from $440 - $500, depending on the season. This includes insurance and taxes. We will send you a quote and you pay AB Car Rental directly.

Avis Car Rental

Avis is conveniently located across from the airport. Their price includes taxes, but not insurance. This is a good option for those who purchase insurance from another provider. Their policies range from $13 - $26 per day and are not valid in Washington Slagbaai Park. They are for collision damage only and do not cover keys, rims, roadside assistance or additional drivers.

A weekly rental fee for a manual truck ranges from $250 - $350, depending on the season. This includes taxes, but not insurance. We will include the amount on your Sand Dollar invoice when we collect payment.

Dive Friends is located next door to Sand Dollar. They manage our dive pier and offer our guests unlimited tanks, equipment storage, boat trips, courses and friendly advice.
