Sand Dollar Condominium Resort

Diving Experiences

Whether you are an experienced diver or have always wanted to try it, the freedom and accessibility of the clear waters around Bonaire means there is something for everyone. Day or night, shore or boat, west coast, east coast, every dive is an opportunity for adventure.

"There is something for everyone!"

Lace diving

Yellow markers can be seen along the calm Bonarian coastline. Each shore access is maintained by Marine Park rangers. Plan your dive, stop off the road, put on your gear and walk in. If shore diving is new to you, gain confidence and experience with the PADI Shore Diver Specialty Course.

Boat Dives

While more than 50 markers mark reef accesses along the mainland coastline, Klein Bonaire, a small, protected, uninhabited island, lies tantalizingly close on the horizon. Boat dives, departing from the Sand Dollar dock, offer both the fun of an offshore excursion and the opportunity to mingle with dive crews and other divers. Join Dive Friends for a great morning with two dives, or a lazy afternoon with one dive. Watch out for dolphins, too!

Diving on the East Coast

Although most of the diving takes place on the sheltered West Coast, for a bucket list experience you can sign up for a morning out with East Coast Diving. They are the only operators on the East Coast and only take 10 divers a day to Turtle City. This world-class dive site is one of only three places in the world to see an extraordinary number of turtles underwater (50 or more per morning).

Night diving

Night diving is very easy and convenient. From the apartment to the reef in seconds! For added excitement, the large tarpons often join you as they hunt their prey. Be sure to plan a visit that coincides with the ostracods. This amazing underwater light show is created by microscopic shrimp communicating with each other. It happens a few nights a month after the full moon and is one of the few life experiences you can't photograph or film. This phenomenon is extremely rare in the world and divers on Bonaire are treated to one of nature's best shows.
